Frequently asked questions
Who sees my child's messages?
- Your child and the contacts you approved: each sees the messages sent to them.
- You: your chats with your child and family, and the items sent to you for approval. You also see who your child talks to. You don't read every message, and that is deliberate.
- Other kids: only messages your child sends to them. Other parents don't see your child's messages.
- A person at Babee: only when needed: a report, a safety case (and then, the messages around it in that chat), or support you asked for. A small random sample of stopped, non-dangerous messages, shown without names or the rest of the chat, is also looked at within 7 days to measure accuracy. Access is logged.
- Computers: every message between kids is checked by automated tools in Israel, before it arrives. Messages with a parent or other family adult get only the lighter check described below.
- Not teachers or the school: they have no access.
- Good to know: Babee is not end-to-end encrypted, and that is why messages can be checked. Full detail in the privacy policy.
What happens when something is blocked?
- Swearing or insults: the child sees a friendly "let's try that another way" and can send different words. It isn't "blocked", and nobody else sees that there was an attempt.
- When the check isn't sure: the message waits for your approval, and the child sees "sent to my parent for a quick look" and keeps chatting. You approve with one tap, or don't send.
- When there's a sign of danger (for example sexual content, suspected abuse, self-harm): the message is blocked and held for someone at Babee, who looks at the most serious cases first. An item not looked at within 7 days is deleted and never delivered. It never goes to you or to other parents. The child sees a calm "this one can't be sent" and a link to talk to someone. Babee may report to the police or 105 to protect a child.
- If you think Babee got it wrong, your child can ask you to take a look. This works only for some stopped messages, not for messages blocked because of a sign of danger.
- Recipients: never see that a message was stopped. No marker, no counter.
- How long we keep them: rejected messages are deleted after 7 days (except safety cases, which are kept only as long as the police need them).
How is my child's data handled?
We can't promise there is no risk; no system is risk-free. Here is what we do, and what we don't.
- We collect as little as we can: your child's first name, month and year of birth, messages, and who your child talks to. No location, no ads, no selling data, no public profile.
- Where: your child's messages are stored and checked on Babee's own servers in Israel, and we don't send them to AI companies abroad. Connections to Babee pass through Cloudflare, a network and security provider, which can process them in transit.
- Protection: data is encrypted in transit (through Cloudflare, which decrypts and re-encrypts connections in transit) and in storage, access is logged.
- Identity check: in the pilot, only invited parents can sign up. An identity check (ID and a selfie) will be added before Babee opens to more families; even then we won't keep the images.
- If a serious security incident happens: we will tell the Privacy Protection Authority and, where required, you.
- What Babee is not: end-to-end encrypted, so that messages can be checked.
How is this different from WhatsApp's parent accounts?
As of October 2026, with WhatsApp's parent accounts you choose who your child talks to. With Babee, what's sent is also checked before it arrives. WhatsApp doesn't check messages before delivery, because they're end-to-end encrypted: only the people in the chat see them, not WhatsApp and not you.
Does my child have to leave WhatsApp?
No. The parents' group stays, and nobody asks the kids to leave a group. Babee works when the class moves together. If the friends aren't there, it's probably not worth it yet.
How much does it cost?
Free during the pilot. We'll tell you before anything costs money.
What if I don't respond to an item waiting for me?
It isn't sent and it isn't approved automatically. After 24 hours it expires, and the child sees "my parent hasn't had time yet, send again?"
Can teachers message kids?
No. In the first version there are no adults other than family in a child's chats.
Who confirms the class members?
The class representative or the parents' committee, after the parent passes an identity check. In the pilot, every adult who can message or call your child confirms their identity. (Use this sentence only after QA confirms it in the pilot build.)
How long does a check take?
Are there ads or tracking?
No ads, no location tracking, no selling data.
Can I delete everything?
Where can I ask more?
[email protected]. Someone at Babee looks at serious cases as quickly as possible, but can't promise a time. For anything urgent, call 105, ERAN 1201 or 100.
